Friends, tonight in Wilmington, Joe Biden will close out our Democratic National Convention, becoming the standard bearer for our party in the most important election of our lifetimes.

The stakes couldn’t be higher – like President Obama told us last night, the very foundations of our democracy are at stake on election day.

Joe and I need your help to beat Donald Trump and elect Democrats up and down the ballot to end the chaos and division of the Trump presidency. Will you chip in today to make sure we win in November?

I’ve known Joe since I became a senator back in 2009, and there’s always been one thing that stood out to me most about him: empathy.

It’s a quality that’s sorely lacking in the current White House, and one that makes him uniquely qualified to lead our country in this dark hour.

You’ve all read the stories about how he gives his phone number to grieving parents who’ve suffered the same loss he has, and kids who are fighting to overcome stutters just like he did. And I can tell you they’re all true – Joe Biden is one of the most decent and caring men I know.

In an era of cynicism, Joe’s empathy brings Americans together and shows us our best days are still ahead. His vast experience, temperament, and decency make him uniquely qualified to restore trust in our government and rebuild our nation.

But first, we need to beat Donald Trump. There are just 74 days until November 3rd, and we need to do everything in our power to elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and make Trump a one-term president.

It’s going to be a tough fight, but I know if we work together we’ll elect Joe and Democrats up and down the ballot.
