Dear John,
After spending nearly two decades standing firm here in the swamp of Washington, D.C., I am rarely surprised by the depths to which the Left is willing to stoop.
Yet it happened this July. The Little Sisters of the Poor, a religious order that does charity work, have had to defend their rights all the way up to the Supreme Court -- twice.
These Catholic nuns waged a seven-year legal battle over an Obama-era government mandate to pay for abortion-inducing contraception through their insurance plans. Centuries of church teaching on the value of life compelled them to object on the grounds of religious liberty.
On July 8, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the authority of the Trump administration to set policy that protects conscience and religious freedom in the context of the Affordable Care Act.
The nuns won!
But make no mistake, the Left has made it clear that they will not stop until all Americans -- even Catholic nuns who serve the poor and elderly -- cave to their anti-biblical agenda.
We are in the midst of a battle for the heart and soul of America.

With the onslaught of the coronavirus, our nation has faced challenges not seen in this century. Congress has allocated emergency funds through the Small Business Administration (SBA) so America's local employers and the workers they support can stay afloat.
Unfortunately, your taxpayer dollars flooded to applicants with little oversight. Earlier this summer, Americans were shocked to learn that 43 affiliates of Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion provider, had received a combined $150 million in loans through SBA.
"It is outrageous, and it is disheartening," said Rep. Dan Bishop (R-N.C.).
Bishop spoke to me on FRC's daily Washington Watch radio program, one of many avenues FRC uses to communicate truth to friends like you, John, across America.
He explained the abortion giant was not eligible for the funds in question -- which we knew well, because FRC had helped draft the bill language.
"They simply have engaged in a violation of the law," said Rep. Bishop. "There is not a good faith argument, in my view and in the view of the others... that they would be able to do this."
More than 120 members of Congress, including Rep. Bishop, have called on the SBA and Trump administration to investigate billion-dollar "nonprofit" Planned Parenthood -- which has $1.5 billion in the bank--on these credible accusations of criminal fraud.
It's serious not only because this "women's health" organization exists to end lives in the womb. Most of the small businesses across America won't be required to pay back these "loans." We must do everything we can to ensure the abortion giant pays back every penny.
And FRC will not relent in our years-long mission to halt Planned Parenthood from accessing any federal or state funding sources. It is an effort that requires policy expertise, persistence, and moral courage -- attributes rarely seen together on Capitol Hill.
To be the most effective in our fight for faith and family values, FRC needs to know what issues are a top priority for you today. Will you take a few minutes right now to answer our 2020 Issues Survey?

Planned Parenthood isn't the only radical group receiving taxpayer funds. A secular advocacy outfit that attacks military chaplains has also found its way to the government trough.
The Freedom from Religion Foundation (FFRF) has criticized churches and faith-driven organizations that have received loans through the SBA's crisis program.
But one day after the SBA published a partial list of recipients of loans, the anti-religious group decided to come clean with a public statement: "FFRF was eligible for and received a forgivable loan under the Paycheck Protection Program of less than half a million dollars," the group stated.
This telling footnote about their approximately $500,000 windfall ran in a press release... one that spent over 1,200 words attacking local religious communities for applying for loans. The Left's double standards are only too obvious.
We at FRC are not about to give up this fight. In addition to answering the 2020 Issues Survey, will you consider giving your best gift of $35, $70, $100, $250, or even $500 or more to help fuel our mission?
Our work in the days to come is too important for us to become discouraged. As Paul wrote, we must "find our strength in the Lord and in the power of His might" (Ephesians 6:10).
This moral stand is based not only on Americans' overwhelming support for our country's bedrock principles. It's because it is biblically right and essential to our nation's future. Thank you in advance for your stand of faith, so together we can thrive in difficult times.
