Although current law only allows for deceased people to appear on U.S. currency, Trump Administration officials have reportedly pressed staff at the agency’s Bureau of Engraving and Printing to prepare prototypes of the note. The United States has not featured a living person on American currency since 1866. At a time when Americans are struggling to afford everyday necessities, our public officials should be focused on lowering costs and improving quality of life.
