We need to reverse the damage that’s already been done to the USPS. Please send a message to your Congress Members before Postmaster General DeJoy testifies tomorrow.
We cannot get comfortable, John.
Under enormous pressure from our movement and allies, Postmaster General Louis DeJoy announced that the USPS would “suspend” any changes to service until after the election.
But it’s clear that his statement was designed to quiet criticism, not implement any actual changes. DeJoy is hoping that we take his word and move on – but we won’t fall for it.
According to USPS planning documents, nearly 95% of the mail sorting machines that were slated for removal over the last few months have already been taken out of service. Reports show that as many as 475 mail sorting machines may have already been decommissioned.1
We’re seeing alarming reports from across the country, John. We need action from Congress to repair the damage that’s already been done to ensure that all our votes are counted and processed.
DeJoy will testify before the Senate and House on Friday and Monday respectively. We need to send as many messages as possible before then to let our leaders know that we demand answers. It is their job to hold DeJoy accountable and protect our right to vote safely.
Not only do we need to send messages, but we must show up on the streets in force this Saturday. We’re joining our partners for a national day of action this Saturday, August 22nd to #SavethePostOffice.
After you sign the petition, we’ll give you the info you need to find a socially distant action near you.
Thank you for rising up,
Women’s March
