LGBTQ+ Americans have contributed so much to our nation, and Pride Month is a time to honor and celebrate that legacy.

It’s also a reminder of the painful history of discrimination that LGBTQ+ people have faced. We must acknowledge that the fight for true equality is far from over.

Throughout Trump’s time in office, he and his MAGA administration have consistently chipped away at key rights and protections for LGBTQ+ Americans, notably targeting LGBTQ+ youth and their stories. And they show no sign of slowing down.

As a member of the Congressional Equality Caucus, I’m dedicated to defending LGBTQ+ rights. I’m proud to have been an original cosponsor of the Equality Act, which aims to expand protections against discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. I have - and will continue to - support legislation that prohibits discrimination and protects freedoms to privacy and to love proudly and openly.

This Pride Month, we must recommit ourselves to the pursuit of LGBTQ+ equality and ensuring the LGBTQ+ community’s hard-won rights remain safe from Trump’s attacks and the GOP-controlled Congress.

Our democracy demands equality, and we must keep fighting. Together, we can push back against the Trump Administration's extremist anti-LGBTQ agenda and elect real champions who will push for process, not rollbacks.
