Career & Family — Who Says You Have To Choose? Tuesday, August 25 from 1pm to 2pm PT
No one says it's easy and there's no "right" way to do it, but you can have it all! In this webinar, three professionals will share their different approaches to having a family during their STEM education or career. Panelists will share their challenges and advice for balancing their professional and personal goals. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions, share their experiences, and get advice.
STEM students and professionals have a unique role to play in advocating for equitable, science-based solutions in their community. But how do you get started? Powermapping is a tool that can help you understand your most effective path for creating change. It can also be used to help you reflect on your own assets (knowledge, technical skills, connections, affiliation) to see how you fit into existing public engagement efforts and policy discussions. In this webinar, participants will engage in asset mapping and power mapping to help think through the best path for their own advocacy efforts.
Career Paths Outside of Academia Wednesday, September 9 from 1pm to 2pm PT
In this webinar, three professionals will share how their journeys in STEM led them to careers in industry, rather than academia. Panelists will share the challenges they experienced in an academic setting and how networking, self esteem, and perseverance led them to their current positions at Genentech, Ramboll, and Sandia National Laboratories. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions via Q&A.
