This is what election intimidation looks like
<[link removed]>
Dear friend,
Donald Trump’s Justice Department just suffered another major defeat in court.
A federal judge rejected the administration’s attempt to force Wisconsin to
hand over sensitive voter data — including information tied to driver’s
licenses and partial Social Security numbers — as part of Trump’s escalating
campaign to gain sweeping access to voter rolls across the country.
And Wisconsin is not the only state fighting back.
So far, federal courts in multiple states have thrown out these lawsuits.
Judges appointed by both Democratic and Republican presidents have rejected the
administration’s legal theory and warned against federal overreach into state
election systems.
Now, FBI Director Kash Patel has sent FBI agents to the homes of the election
officials involved to intimidate and bully them over this case. This was never
about “routine maintenance” of voter rolls. It was about power.
The Trump administration has targeted dozens of states in an extraordinary
push to collect voter registration data from millions of Americans. Voting
rights advocates, like VRF, warned that this effort could be used to build a
massive federal voter database, opening the door to intimidation, partisan
targeting, and wrongful voter purges ahead of future elections.
And while these lawsuits are failing in court today, the broader strategy is
still moving forward.
That is why organizations like Voting Rights Fund cannot afford to slow down.
If you believe voter data should not be turned into a political weapon…
If you believe elections should remain in the hands of voters instead of
authoritarian politicians…
If you believe we cannot normalize these escalating attacks on democratic
participation…
Then please make a contribution to Voting Rights Fund today. The broader fight
over voting rights, election administration, and democratic accountability is
only getting more urgent.

We cannot afford to look away.

Voting Rights Fund wasn’t created just to defend voting rights — we elect the
leaders who will expand and protect them. Our aim is to keep our operational
costs as low as possible, so a majority of our funds go toward doing the work
that needs to be done. That means building a national bench of lawmakers who
will fight tooth and nail to expand access to the ballot box and protect our
right to vote at every level of government.
