Happy Thursday, Fellow Democrats!

We are now 75 days away from electing a new President of the United States!

------------------------------------------------------------

** DEMOCRATIC HEADQUARTERS VISITORS
------------------------------------------------------------

**
Our office remains closed for inside visits and meetings but Stacey Klim is at the office on Wednesdays and Fridays 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. for visitors to pick up Democratic gear (yard signs, bumper stickers, etc.) and to conduct other essential services.

Democrats coming to the office should knock on the door, social distance, wear a facemask, and provide their own hand sanitizer. Thank you as we continue to look after the safety of our fellow Democrats.

Please Note: Our office will be CLOSED on Friday, August 21^st.

------------------------------------------------------------

** PRIMARY ELECTION RESULTS
------------------------------------------------------------

**
Turnout for the Tuesday primary was very low. Only 33.57% of registered voters turned out. People voted:

By Mail – 24,623
Early Voting – 5,974
Election Day – 9,800

Democrats – 11, 992 (36%)
Republicans – 23, 812 (42%)
No Party – 4,316 (15%)

Since there were no Democrats in the Primary Election, it is not surprising our turnout was low. However, we have set an 85% goal for turnout in the General Election. We must elect Joe Biden as the President of the United States with his VP selection, Senator Kamala Harris. We must elect Jim Kennedy as our next U.S. Congressman. We have to elect Al Griffiths to the Florida Legislature and Scot Fretwell to the Florida Senate. All Democrats must vote on November 3^rd!!!! Help us make that happen!

Here are the election results from the Tuesday Primary:

Our two new County Commissioners are Joe Earman (District 3) and Laura Moss (District 5).

The two new School Board Members are Peggy Jones (District 3) and Brian Barefoot (District 5).

Circuit Court Judge 19^th Judicial District is Victoria Griffin.

The School District Millage Initiative passed overwhelmingly.

The Tax Collector will again be Carol Jean Jordan.

Eric Flowers will go to the November 3^rd election to face off against NPA Deborah Cooney.

** VOTE BY MAIL STATISTICS
------------------------------------------------------------

**
As you know, we have been working hard to get Democrats in Indian River signed up for Vote By Mail. You can see from the voting statistics during the Primary, that VBM was how the majority voted. Here are some impressive numbers that are a reflection of all the phone banking and hard work our Democratic volunteers have done over the past few months.

------------------------------------------------------------
* 15,232 have registered for VBM ballots in 2020

* 9,056 requested VBM ballots in 2018

* 6,176 more Democrats registered for VBM ballots in 2020 compared to 2018, as of July 31, 2020

Voting by mail keeps you safe and protects other members of the community during our current pandemic. People who register to vote by mail are more likely to vote than people who wait to go to the polls. Register now to vote by mail!

FIRST TIME VOTERS RECEIVING VOTE BY MAIL INSTRUCTIONS

The Democrats of Indian River have mailed 2000 young Democrats instructions on how to vote by mail. The fanciful postcard walks Democrats 18-25 through the steps on how they can register with the Supervisor of Elections. It’s going to take all of us to elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on November 3^rd.

MISLEADING VOTER INFORMATION

It has come to our attention that the Voter Participation Center and Center for Voter Information is sending out misleading letters to voters throughout Florida, including Indian River County.

If you have received a letter from either of these organizations, please contact the Indian River County Supervisor of Elections office at 772-226-3440.

** DEMOCRATS OF INDIAN RIVER POST THEIR TRIBUTES AT THE COVID-19 WALL OF CARING AND REMEMBRANCE
------------------------------------------------------------

Our website, www.democratsofindianriver.org ([link removed]) , now has a new feature: The Covid-19 Wall of Caring and Remembrance. Here you can leave tributes to friends and family you have either lost in the pandemic or are very concerned about during the current health crisis.

The wall is dedicated to the victims of the pandemic. It is our testimony. We know this should never have happened. Because of the lack of leadership from the President on down through the Republican ranks, we have 165,000 American deaths today. We are being touched here in Indian River County, too. Our members, like many in the community, are grieving.

Let’s honor and remember our loved ones. Read the tributes and submit your own. Go to:
