From Crisis to Care: Inside Kitten Season at PAWS Chicago
Every spring brings an influx of kittens and young moms into the shelter system. Alongside lifesaving foster care, spay/neuter remains key to reducing future litters and protecting more lives.
As kitten season pushes shelters beyond capacity, stories like Magic’s show just how urgent the need has become. After struggling to survive outdoors, Magic and her kittens found safety at PAWS Chicago, but thousands of vulnerable kittens are still born outside each year due to breeding among unspayed and unneutered feral cats. Read how spay/neuter changes lives and helps prevent more families from entering the shelter system.

** I went home!

Fearful of new people and places, Sutton wasn’t meant to live in a high-rise or ride in an elevator. Her youthful exuberance was made for wide open spaces. With the help of PAWS Chicago, Sutton found a home as unique as her.

** Save a life on Giving Day — June 25
------------------------------------------------------------
On Thursday, June 25, animal lovers across Chicago and throughout the country will come together for PAWS Chicago Giving Day—a day dedicated to giving homeless and at-risk pets the second chances they deserve.
Every year, PAWS Chicago uses innovative, high-impact programs to help more than 27,000 pets by preventing overpopulation, treating illness and injury, rebuilding trust, and helping animals find loving homes. But none of it is possible without a compassionate, engaged community standing with us.
Without access to the kind of lifesaving care PAWS Chicago provides, thousands of pets would never get the chance to heal, feel safe, or experience love again. But with the right treatment, compassion, and support—everything changes.
That’s why Giving Day matters. It’s a powerful reminder of what this community can accomplish together for homeless pets. Please save the date and plan to join us on June 25. Your participation will help provide lifesaving care, hope, and new beginnings for the pets who need us most.
🐶 🐱 🐾 Keep an eye on your inbox and PAWS Chicago’s social channels in the coming weeks for exciting Giving Day announcements, special ways to multiply your impact, and a few fun surprises for dog people, cat people, and everyone in between. 🐶 🐱 🐾
** See you there!
