Protecting Veteran's Second Amendment rights
|
This month, I voted in favor of the Veterans 2nd Amendment Protection Act. This bill would lock in protections so the VA cannot use a benefits-management decision alone to strip a veteran’s gun rights. If the government wants to take away a constitutional right, it should have to prove its case.
As an original cosponsor, I am proud to ensure that veterans will never be forced to choose between receiving assistance from VA to manage their benefits or their fundamental constitutional rights.

Leading the fight for America First immigration policies
|
I am ranked the number one member of Congress on the Immigration Accountability Project’s immigration scorecard, recognizing his consistent record of supporting tough border security and immigration enforcement policies.
The rankings evaluate lawmakers based on votes, legislation, and leadership on issues related to immigration and protecting American sovereignty.
I’m proud to stand with President Trump in delivering the strongest border security policies in modern American history. By ending the Disney fast pass system at the southern border, we have shown the American people that our nation does not have to surrender our sovereignty to Democrats open borders agenda. While the Left demonizes law enforcement and immigration officers, Republicans have stood in the gap to defend our nation, protect our communities, and uphold the rule of law.

Supporting our active duty servicemembers and veterans
|
I voted in support of the Fiscal Year 2027 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, legislation that fully funds veterans’ healthcare and benefits while strengthening support services for those who served our nation and investing in military construction projects that improve readiness and quality of life for servicemembers and their families.
The bill provides $450.3 billion for the Department of Veterans Affairs, including full funding for veterans’ medical care, disability compensation, pensions, mental health programs, suicide prevention efforts, and toxic exposure treatment for veterans impacted by burn pits, Agent Orange, and other service-related hazards. The legislation also includes $19.2 billion for military construction and family housing projects, including barracks improvements, child development centers, and military infrastructure upgrades critical to national defense.
America’s veterans put their lives on the line to defend our freedoms, and Congress has a responsibility to make sure they receive the care and benefits they earned. Those who have served our country should never have to fight the government to receive the support they were promised, and this legislation helps ensure our troops and veterans receive the care and benefits they deserve.
|
I voted in support and cosponsored the Save Our Shrimpers Act to prohibit federal funds from being made available to International Financial Institutions to finance any activity relating to shrimp farming, shrimp processing, or the export of shrimp from any foreign country to the United States.
America’s shrimpers have been crushed by unfair foreign competition, and hardworking families along the Gulf Coast are paying the price. I’m proud to support this commonsense legislation to put American shrimpers first, protect jobs along the Gulf Coast, and ensure our seafood industry can continue to thrive for generations to come.

Protecting our communities and upholding the Constitution
|
I introduced the CRUSADE (Countering Radicalism Under Sharia and Defeating Extremism) Act. This legislation will amend the EB-4 special immigrant visa provision, including the religious worker category, to require covered aliens to disavow sharia law and take an oath to uphold the United States Constitution.
America is built on the rule of law and the supremacy of the Constitution - not foreign legal systems that conflict with our freedoms and values. The CRUSADE Act makes clear that anyone seeking entry into the United States as a religious worker must affirm their commitment to the Constitution and reject the extremist practices found in sharia law that have been used to justify persecution, violence, and the suppression of basic human rights. Religious liberty is one of our nation’s founding principles, but it cannot come at the expense of the constitutional order that protects all Americans.
