There are many ways the federal government can act to protect horses, and with your support we are keeping up the pressure to ensure they act on the below:
|
- Under the Horse Protection Act, the U.S. Department of Agriculture has a legal obligation to protect horses from soring. But the USDA has completely abdicated its responsibility to protect horses by refusing to implement changes to fix gaps in the Horse Protection Act regulations that could finally put an end to this cruelty. So we’ve sued the USDA for its failure to protect horses.
- The Save America’s Forgotten Equines (SAFE) Act would ban domestic horse slaughter in the United States and stop the export of American horses for slaughter abroad, ending suffering for countless horses. We’re calling on Congress to pass this critical legislation to end the suffering of horses.
