Maine deserves a fighter. So does this moment.

Donald Trump, the same reckless strongman who I took on — and beat — is coming for our health care, our environment, our workers, and our way of life. He's not done with Maine. And Maine needs a governor who isn't done fighting back.

For eight years, I've fought to protect Maine's working families, preserve what makes this state extraordinary, and push back against every attempt to drag us backward. I'm not done yet. But I know what the next chapter requires — and I know who is ready to lead it.

I saw her as Speaker of the House successfully bring people together to get things done during challenging times. And when I was elected in 2018, I chose Hannah to run the Governor’s Office of Policy Innovation and the Future. In that role, she oversaw a historic $300 million investment in affordable housing, directed the $1 billion Maine Jobs and Recovery Plan, and designed a $60 million storm recovery package for our state.

Look John, I know better than anyone that this is a very qualified field of candidates – including many of whom I’ve worked with throughout my time as governor. When Hannah and I served in the Legislature, we didn't agree on every bill and she won't approach every issue the same way I did as Governor, but believe me when I say this: Hannah was the right pick then, and she’s the right pick now.

Hannah is tough, smart, and ready. She represents something this moment demands: Democratic leadership that knows how to win and isn't afraid of a fight. I've watched her work. I know what she's made of.
