Friends, I cannot underscore this enough: The U.S. Postal Service is in critical jeopardy, and we must fight back.

The USPS is a constitutionally mandated service that provides every address with essential delivery services. During the pandemic, it’s become increasingly paramount that the Postal Service is able to operate efficiently. Americans rely on U.S. Mail to receive important paperwork, pay bills, and obtain life-saving medication. Particularly for those in rural areas and for seniors, the USPS has been a lifeline during this crisis.

And with pivotal elections happening across the country this year, more and more states are relying on mail-in voting options to protect voters and allow them to safely cast their ballots.

That’s exactly why Donald Trump has been working to sabotage the USPS all summer — to disparage mail-in voting. On numerous occasions, Trump has stated that he will refuse necessary funding that the Post Office needs to continue running. He’s used races, like our NY-12 Primary Election, to further spread his baseless claims that mail-in voting can’t be trusted. And he installed one of his major donors, Postmaster General DeJoy, to head the USPS and execute his plans to dismantle it.

Since PMG DeJoy has been in charge, he’s implemented drastic new changes that have had detrimental impacts on the mail services so many people depend on:
- Postal worker and post office hours have been cut
- Mail and packages have been delayed
- Mail and packages have been lost
- Collection boxes have disappeared
- High-volume mail sorting machines have been removed

By trying to suppress our votes and steal the election, Trump and DeJoy have prevented important bills, prescriptions, and other mail from being delivered to Americans. It is unacceptable that he is politicizing the USPS.

And while PMG DeJoy has committed to suspending service changes until after the elections, that is not enough. We must restore service levels to pre-COVID standards -- and there is no time to waste.

In Congress, I have been fighting to save the Postal Service against Trump's attacks for several months now. When coronavirus relief bills have been written, I’ve made sure to include funding for USPS. I've demanded transparency by calling on PMG DeJoy to testify in an urgent Oversight hearing regarding the harmful changes he's implemented. And I introduced The Delivering for America Act to reverse these changes and block any further revisions to policy and operations until after the pandemic. (Speaker Pelosi has just called us back early for an emergency session to vote on my bill.)

Protecting the Postal Service is more urgent than ever. We MUST fight back against Trump's outrageous attempts to dismantle the USPS and to undermine our democracy. I will continue standing up to him, but I need you in this fight with me.

Will you rush a contribution today to help me reverse the damage that Trump and PMG DeJoy have caused and protect the USPS from further attacks? PITCH IN NOW TO HELP SAVE THE USPS >>
