A note from from Mayor Brian Turnbull...

** NORTHVILLIANS,
------------------------------------------------------------

Our town historically has been known as “The Hamlet in the Hills” or “The Switzerland of Wayne County” thanks to its unique topography of lakes & waterways (which includes the only natural lake in Wayne County), converging rivers, and hills that give us the highest point in the County.

It’s up to us to retain our natural resources and beauty of the Ville. That’s why the City of Northville & Northville Township officials are doing everything they can to keep Johnson Creek clean & fresh. This waterway runs through Northville from Edenderry to the Fish Hatchery Park, onward to Northville Downs, and finally into the Rouge River that runs to Dearborn. Remarkably, Johnson Creek is one of the only cold-water streams in the Detroit area with trout fishing. With that background, let me tell you why this is important.

This year, I’m involved with others in the community on your behalf with the legislation in Lansing looking at policies & procedures as it relates to Waste Management establishments which could affect the future of our local water tributaries. Along this line, I appreciate the work of the many dedicated citizens involved in activities in Northville, including Mill Race Historic Village and the Farmers’ Market, who support preserving our waterways, parks & greenspaces, and especially Ford Field with its Central Park potential. In every way, I will continue to be an advocate for the natural beauty, greenspace and waterways of our town.

Whether you’re young or old, a biker, hiker, walker, naturalist, fisherman, historian or avid shopper, there is something for you in our walkability Northville. I thank you for all you do – not only in making our downtown inviting, but also improving our greenspace for the next generation.
