Greetings from Arizona!

I am wrapping up another busy week meeting with constituents, community groups, businesses and more here in Arizona's 8th District. At a Surprise Chamber event this week, I joined representatives from local schools and universities in our community to discuss new directions and opportunities in education. I believe that local schools know their students best, which is why I introduced the Make Education Local Act in Congress to help get more money back into our local classrooms for our students and teachers. Helping Those in Need

It was great to tour St. Mary's Food Bank in Surprise this week and see all the good work they are doing to help feed our community. The passionate volunteers at the Kids Cafe produce over 7,000 meals each week for children in our area. Thank you for all you do!

Casework Highlight

A Peoria resident contacted our office seeking assistance with child support payments. She was previously married to an officer in the military, but he was not paying his monthly child support. She had a garnishment order for child support from both the VA and the Defense Finance and Accounting Service, but was having trouble getting the agencies to correctly process the orders. Our office was able to get the proper documents to ensure that she will now receive child support for her children each month, which will be a big help to her family!

Mike Broomhead Show

This week I had the opportunity to tour iHeartRadio in Phoenix, where multiple radio stations broadcast in our area. I also sat down with Mike Broomhead in his studio to talk about immigration, what it's like in Washington, DC and more. Listen to the interview by clicking here.

AZ 8 Congressional Recognition

Jessica from my office presented Charlie Ellis, founder of Operation Enduring Gratitude, with Arizona’s District 8 Congressional Recognition. Founded in 2014, Operation Enduring Gratitude works with community partners to identify veterans that are in need of home repairs and completes these repairs at no cost to the veterans. They have rebuilt five homes, constructed over 50 concrete wheelchair ramps, fixed broken air conditioning units and water heaters, cleaned yards, and much more. Thank you, Charlie, for helping veterans in our community!

Know a veteran, student, first responder, or community advocate in AZ-08 that's giving back to our community? Nominate them for a congressional recognition here: https://lesko.house.gov/services/recognitions.htm

May God continue to bless you and our great nation!

Sincerely,

Congresswoman Debbie Lesko
