For nearly 25 years, I represented our nation around the world. During my time as USCIS’s Director of International Operations, I helped coordinate responses to a wide variety of national emergencies, and I’m proud of my time spent working to keep Americans safe. I’ll take the same commitment to service to Congress, but I need your help to get there.

One of the most important things I learned during my time in this public service is how fragile democracies can become. All it takes is one determined authoritarian leader willing to tear down the pillars of representative government, and unfortunately what we’re seeing here at home reminds me of the type of democratic erosion I’ve seen in other nations.
The MAGA movement has consolidated power in the hands of a president who is determined to tilt the scales of our democracy in his favor. Trump has coordinated with the Supreme Court to allow Republican states to disenfranchise voters for political gain, and he’s threatened to use federal law enforcement officers to disrupt elections across the nation. Even though polls show that Trump’s approval rating continues to fall, Democrats face a tough battle to retake the House due to Republican gerrymandering and voter suppression efforts.
Winning in districts like ours is critical to flipping the House blue and delivering results for central and northern Minnesota. My roots have always been here in Minnesota — I understand what our communities need, and how to get results. That’s why I won the DFL nomination and our people-powered campaign is getting ready to compete in every corner of this huge district.
