What a week it’s been. Just over a week ago, Vice President Biden and I announced that I'd be joining this campaign as his running mate -- and now, I just finished speaking at the Democratic National Convention. I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for the outpouring of support we’ve received from Democrats in every corner of this nation.

Even before I joined the ticket, I was committed to seeing this fight all the way through to November. Joe Biden talks about restoring the soul of our nation, and that’s exactly what’s on the line right now. We don’t have to accept the failed leadership of Donald Trump and Mike Pence -- but if we’re going to make a change, it will require clear commitments from people just like you while there’s still time. That’s why I’m coming to you today.

I started my career as a prosecutor because I wanted to fight for the only client I've ever had: The people. That deep desire to serve people -- all people -- still drives me today, and I know it drives Joe Biden, too. I know that together, Joe and I will fight for economic, racial, and civil justice, and begin to restore the leadership values our country so desperately needs.

We’re up against tough opponents; they play dirty, and they have nearly unlimited resources.
