Friends —

Before I address Democrats across the country to accept the nomination for Vice President of the United States at the convention tonight, I wanted to personally reach out.

This moment in our country’s history requires us to fight for our values, especially in the face of an Administration intent on leading with lies, division, and hatred.

And, friend, that fight starts now. Not tomorrow, next week, or next month, but right now. You and I both know that Donald Trump is not going to make this easy for us.

So here's what we've got to do: We’ve got to take our country’s future into our hands and work like hell to win this race and ensure a better future for all Americans. I’m ready to get to work, and I hope you are, too.

Friends, if you’re with me tonight, will you show me by pitching in to power our campaign’s work over the next 76 days? Joe and I are counting on you to have our backs in this fight.

Anything you can contribute today will go a long way in helping us turn the page and start our country’s next chapter. And here’s what I believe is in that next chapter, friend:

I believe in a future where we can build this country back better than before.

Where we’ll create millions of jobs, lead a clean energy revolution, and bring critical supply chains back so the future is made in America.

Where we’ll build on the Affordable Care Act, protect a woman’s right to make decisions about her own body, and root out systemic racism in our justice system.

And where little Black and Brown girls know they can grow up to be anything, and no one can tell them their dream is too big.

But, this future won’t be ours if we don’t fight for it, friends. So, like my mother Shyamala used to tell my sister Maya and me -- we have to do something.

We’ve only got 76 days left to make our case against four more years of Trump to the American people, and it’s going to take each and every one of us doing our part to win. So I need to know that you’re with me, friends.
