I am excited about our 2020 ticket! Let me share two quick personal stories about Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

When I was serving overseas, we had a lot of visitors and Congressional delegations come through our Embassy. Usually, their trips meant a flurry of meetings and briefings, but Vice President Joe Biden’s visit was different.

In addition to the substantive, focused briefings he needed, he made a practice of spending time with Embassy families - thanking them for making our work possible. It was a small bit of kindness that made all the difference to spouses and kids posted throughout the world!

Years later, as a newly-elected Member of Congress, I was on the Senate side of the Capitol with a few colleagues when we ran into Senator Kamala Harris – literally – as we rounded a corner.

We jumped between policy discussions and her excitement over our recent elections. Her energy and passion were clear in that first meeting, and consistently present every time I’ve seen her since then.

I’m excited to be on the ballot with them, and I am even more excited to work with them next year for the American people on policy that will help people, create opportunity, and strengthen our communities and country.
