Join Us for Our Fall Season of Programming

From "sharks" Mark Cuban and Daymond John, to Secretary of the Smithsonian Institute Lonnie Bunch, to journalist Jessica Yellin, to the Laura Bush Book Club with author Michele Harper, the fall season of programming at the Bush Center promises to be enlightening and entertaining.
Some of the experts and newsmakers will be on stage with a moderator in the Bush Center auditorium, others will take part via live stream. Further announcements will detail in-person opportunities for these events.

Deepfakes: Addressing the Threat to our Democracy <[link removed]>

An expert panel discusses "deepfakes" — videos that are manipulated through complex algorithms and artificial intelligence, posing a threat to our democracy. Scheduled to participate are Dave Copps , CEO of Worlds, Inc.; Glenn Gaffney , executive vice president and director of InQTel Labs and former CIA director of science and technology; Jeff McGregor , CEO of Truepic, whose mission is to "restore trust in digital imagery"; and Jessica Yellin , award-winning former ABC News White House correspondent.

Education as a Civil Right <[link removed]>

For many years, President Bush has described education as an urgent civil rights issue in America. We'll be joined on video by historian Lonnie Bunch , who was the founding director of the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture and is the current Secretary of the Smithsonian Institute; and in-person by Jamila Thomas , SVP of Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star, former director of the Dallas Independent School District's racial equity office, and a 2019 Presidential Leadership Scholar.

Dr. Michele Harper , author of the acclaimed new memoir The Beauty in Breaking and an emergency room physician, explores how a life of service to others taught her how to heal herself. Harper tells her story in case-study fashion, with each chapter devoted to a patient she treated in the ER. Each patient's story leads to a better understanding of herself and to the inequities in our country. The New York Times called The Beauty in Breaking , "riveting, heartbreaking, sometimes difficult, always inspiring."
