76 days until election day!
Fellow Young Democrat,
Every month in 2020 has seemed longer than the last and August was no different. Joe Biden announced Kamala Harris as his Vice Presidential running mate, we have seen unprecedented attacks on the postal service coming from the Oval Office, and the Indiana Attorney General challenged the mask mandate of Governor Holcomb. Young Democrats all across the state are hosting meet-n-greet events, phonebanks, and digital discussions to go out and elect Hoosier Democrats and build a better future.
We have just 76 days until the election of our lifetimes and just last night we nominated the Democratic nominee for President of the United States. Indiana cast 1 vote for Bernie Sanders of Vermont and 81 votes for the next President of these United States, Joe Biden! Last night making the announcement from South Bend were Mayor Pete Buttigieg, flanked by Indiana Democratic Party Vice Chair Cordelia Lewis Burks, Indiana Democratic Party Chair John Zody, and Indiana Young Democrats President and former Pete For America Indiana Chair Arielle Brandy.

In honor of John Lewis' legacy, we are again calling on our elected leaders in Washington D.C., those that worked side-by-side with Congressman John Lewis, to enact HR4 as the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. If you have five minutes this week, make sure to call your representatives and ask them to enact HR4. While you're there, remind them to fully fund the Postal Service.
The bill is currently in the Senate. You can locate your Senator's contact information at:

Are you a Young Democrat running for office in Indiana? Let us know what you're running for and we will follow up about the endorsement process!
Redistricting is next year, so if we want to end Republican gerrymandering, we must elect just ONE MORE State Representative candidate to break the Republican's Supermajority. A Supermajority for Republicans mean they can convene meetings of the Legislature WITHOUT DEMOCRATS PRESENT. Republicans can draw districts and choose their voters without a single word on the matter coming from Democrats. That's wrong, and Young Democrats around the state are stepping up and leading the way in some of the most competitive races across Indiana.

Andy Ruff (IN-09) was a progressive Bloomington City Councilmember for twenty years--let's give back to a candidate who has done so much for our community, and in doing so bring progressive values to Congress!
Join the Indiana Young Dems-9th District, Monroe County Young Dems, IU College Dems, BHSN Dems, and BHSS Dems for a day of action for the 9th Democratic Congressional candidate Andy Ruff!
Usually, a day of action would mean getting together and going canvassing: while that isn't possible with COVID this year,
we can still help our candidates! This day of action will include three easy ways to help from your own house:
* Phone bank
* Text Bank
* Donate
Here's how it works:
1. Click here to join the Zoom any time between 5-8pm Eastern ([link removed])
2. Andy's campaign will give you the info you need to do phone banking or text banking
3. Training on both phone banking and text banking will be available
4. If you want to or can contribute, you can do so ([link removed]) here! ([link removed]) Suggested donations are $36! Why $36? That's the young age Andy was when he first took elected office! "Stop by" the Zoom anytime between 5-8 pm Eastern on September 1st to pitch in and do your part to get Andy elected to Congress!
