** Please continue to pray as Peers examine changes to abortion and same-sex marriage in NI

Dear supporter,

Thank you for your prayers regarding the Northern Ireland (Executive Formation) Bill.

Sadly amendments requiring the Secretary of State to publish regulations introducing abortion and same-sex marriage in Northern Ireland by 21 October 2019 were backed by a majority of Westminster MPs. As was said yesterday, the changes “drive a coach and horses through the principle of devolution”.

The Bill goes before the House of Lords today and there may be opportunity for further amendments there next week. If this legislation is to go ahead, strong protections for religious liberty and free speech need to be introduced. Without them churches could be pressured to conduct same-sex weddings and medics pressured to perform abortions.

Please continue to pray for these important matters.

Pray for Peers to take bold action. Please also pray for wisdom and protection for Christian Institute staff as we work on these difficult issues.
