Friends,

Growing up, I never imagined running for governor was in the cards for a
kid like me. It didn’t even cross my mind!

My family worked hard. My dad worked at a Safeway, and my mom worked odd
jobs, but we still struggled. I distinctly remember a night when all my
brother and I had for dinner was a stale Skor bar.

That’s why I keep a Skor bar in my office to this day. Not to eat, but to
serve as a reminder of where I come from. I don't ever want to forget.

I got to be where I am today because of government programs like food
stamps and Medicaid. They uplifted my family out of tough situations.

It’s horrible to see these same programs get put on the chopping block by
MAGA Republicans.

Our government shouldn’t be in the business of pleasing mega corporations
while working families struggle — but our MAGA Governor, Joe Lombardo, is
doing exactly that: He doesn’t care about how Trump’s tariffs negatively
impact working people, and he takes massive checks from utility
corporations that keep raising rates to squeeze families even harder.

Nevada families deserve better, and that’s why I’m running for governor.

Our government invested in me when I needed it most. I went on to earn
five degrees, become a public school teacher, and serve as Nevada's
Attorney General. That's what happens when we invest in people — and as
governor, that's exactly what I intend to do.
