In her address to the nation at the Democratic National Convention, Michelle Obama reminded us how we got to where we are now when she said, “four years ago, too many people chose to believe that their votes didn't matter.”

She doesn’t want the same thing to happen in 2020.

So the former First Lady has launched the Civic Cities initiative -- a collaboration with over 30 of America’s mayors that’s built around empowering Americans to vote in a safe and secure manner.

At this time of historic threat to voting rights, it’s exactly what we need. But the last time Michelle implied America could use some improvement, the right attacked her as unpatriotic -- and we don’t put it past them to do the same thing again.
