Jeff and Jon Echols squared off on live television in the "Summary Judgment" debate, co-hosted by News 9 and NonDoc, with The Frontier conducting real-time fact-checking. Both candidates were challenged on illegal marijuana, tribal relations, religious charter schools, mental health competency, and the proper role of the AG's office.
The contrast could not have been sharper. Jeff came in with a clear message: he's a private-sector businessman and an attorney with 20+ years of real courtroom experience, not a politician looking for the next rung on the ladder. Echols responded with unfounded political attacks — calling Jeff a "Virginia lawyer" and accusing him of importing "left-coast politics" into Oklahoma.

Jon Echols was forced to return $3,500 in campaign donations from Rod Polston after jail recordings were released. In the calls, Polston told his wife — who served only 73 days of an 8-year sentence for a DUI that nearly killed a 19-year-old — that Echols "has connections" and would help.
