We've come a long way in 80 years
========================================

Supporter,

Our progress has been massive--but we've got work to do

In honor of our 80th anniversary, we're celebrating some of the amazing advances in diabetes research, treatment and care we've made through the years. Here are some highlights:

Our first ever Scientific Sessions took place in 1941 and featured just 250 attendees. Our last in-person Scientific Sessions hosted more than 15,000 attendees from around the world. There, among dozens of other exciting study results, the Teplizumab Prevention Trial, supported by TrialNet, showed that a medication could delay type 1 diabetes by an average of two years.

The National Diabetes Prevention Program (National DPP) has shown that CDC-recognized Lifestyle Change Programs can prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes. The programs supported by the ADA found that after just six months, 94% of program participants had lost weight and half reached the 5% weight loss goal.

Our nearly 500,000 Diabetes Advocates have fought for better and more accessible treatments, technology and care for people with diabetes. Recently, our advocates worked to pass the 12th state insulin co-pay cap bill to limit the amount that people must pay for their insulin.

In honor of 80 years of progress, have your gift to the American Diabetes Association® DOUBLED--all thanks to the support of our generous donors. This month only, your support will go twice as far up to our campaign total of $80,000--bringing us that much closer to a cure.
