Hello John,

My dad, Jim, was a proud Army veteran who was stationed in Germany during the Korean War.

He spent his life telling the stories of ordinary Minnesotans doing extraordinary things — who he called the “heroes among us.”

This weekend, I'm thinking about the heroes who died serving our nation.

We can never truly repay our debt to those we remember today. But we owe it to them and their families to build a country worthy of their sacrifice: one that lives up to our founding ideals and upholds every promise we've made to the people who served.

I hope you will join me in honoring our fallen on this Memorial Day.
