Our SUMMER CHALLENGE is officially underway! The National Committee is ramping up our grassroots fight to convince more lawmakers that RIGHT NOW is the time to protect and boost Social Security for America's workers and retirees — like Nettie, Alberta and Patricia, National Committee volunteers and senior Americans who have worked hard all their lives, paid into Social Security and are counting on their earned benefits to be there in FULL for them in retirement.
They represent the reason we fight so hard day in and day out in Washington to protect Americans' retirement and health security. Without their earned benefits they would not be able to make it!
To scale up our fight in the weeks ahead and defend these programs from unwarranted attacks, we've set a critical fundraising goal of $37,000 by the end of the day on Senior Citizens' Day: August 21st, to ensure we have the funds we need to wage our fight for your earned benefits! At this moment, the National Committee is fighting to stop the President's executive order calling for a payroll tax "holiday" that will starve revenue going into Social Security and Medicare, and likely open the door to massive benefit cuts. It's clear our opponents are hoping Americans are too distracted by the pandemic and the presidential election to notice they are working behind the scenes in Washington to chip away at our nation's social insurance safety net.
So we must be prepared to defeat any threat that comes our way in the critical weeks ahead!
