John,
Yesterday I sued the Trump administration to force it to stop making changes to the U.S. Postal Service that threaten to undermine the upcoming election.
And then, moments after we announced the lawsuit, Postmaster General DeJoy backed down — saying he would postpone these drastic changes — he calls his "initiatives" — until after the election.
As the People’s Attorney, I am proud to have scored a victory in this round of the fight against the Trump administration. But rest assured our office will be watching closely to make sure that Postmaster General DeJoy’s words are backed up by his actions — and that he undoes whatever damage is already inflicted — like eliminating mailboxes and mail sorting machines!
Right now, Americans are relying on the USPS for everything from prescription drugs to ballots, and these unlawful changes put critical services in danger.
Please be assured that my 25 Democratic AG colleagues and I will fight tirelessly to defeat these unlawful orders in the courts and hold the Trump administration accountable for their illegal, undemocratic actions.
I’ll update you soon,
Ellen
