JOHN, have you heard about Oklahoma’s MAGA loyalty test for teachers?

Before this week starts, we wanted to share something deeply alarming.

Oklahoma’s Superintendent of Education spent weeks promoting a new “America
First” teacher test that he claimed would “woke-proof” classrooms, specifically
for teachers moving from out of state.

In other words, teachers new to Oklahoma now have to take a test to prove they
are not “woke” before they can get a job.

The worst part? The test was created alongside PragerU—a right-wing political
media organization, not an accredited educational institution.

PragerU is well known for the “educational” content it produces for children,
such as a video featuring two kids who travel back in time to speak with
Christopher Columbus. The kids ask him about slavery, to whichhe responds
<[link removed]>, “Being taken as a slave is
better than being killed."

What’s happening in Oklahoma is part of a larger national effort to reshape
public education through altered history, fear, censorship, and manufactured
outrage. Public schools are supposed to teach students how to think critically,
not pressure educators to conform to whatever political movement happens to be
in power.
