Dear Friend,

Media, art and culture have always been the driving force behind Team #MediaJustice’s fight for a world where we are all represented, connected and free. Our communities creating, shaping and sharing our own stories continues to be critical to the broader media justice movement.

Kicking off tomorrow through August 26, the BlackStar Film Festival is an annual celebration of the visual and storytelling traditions of the African diaspora and of global communities of color, showcasing films by Black, Brown and Indigenous people from around the world. This year, MediaJustice is proud to be a sponsor, lifting up and spotlighting film and media that represents our communities and movements for justice.

During the festival, we’ll proudly present 2 films and a panel discussion moderated by MediaJustice Board Chair, Sage Crump:

- Unapologetic (Film screening on Thursday, August 20th at 7:30pm ET)

- Coded Bias (Film screening on Friday, August 21st at 1:30pm ET)

- Cultural Work in the Wake (Panel discussion on Sunday, August 23 at 4pm ET)

To learn more about the festival, our sponsored films and panel, visit: https://www.blackstarfest.org/

We’re so excited to share this experience with each of you. Be sure to grab your tickets and we’ll see you at the movies!

In Solidarity,

Eteng and the rest of Team #MediaJustice
