John,

This week was another productive one here in Washington. I want to take a
moment to share what I’ve been doing on behalf of western Minnesota and the
priorities facing our country.

In honor of National Police Week, I co-sponsored H. Res. 1252, which honors
and memorializes the brave law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the
line of duty. The resolution recognizes the 363 officers whose names were added
to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial this year and hundreds more
whose sacrifices were only recently recognized. Across western Minnesota, our
sheriffs, deputies, troopers, and local officers put themselves into harm’s way
every single day to keep us safe. We can never fully repay the families who
have lost a loved one in uniform, but we can promise to never forget them. I
will always stand with the men and women who put themselves on the line for the
rest of us.

I voted for H. Con. Res. 96, expressing Congress’s wholehearted support for
the men and women in law enforcement who protect our communities, uphold the
rule of law, and combat crime and drugs every single day. The resolution
recognizes their sacrifices, rejects the dangerous “defund the police”
movement, and calls out sanctuary city policies that undermine public safety.
It passed with strong Republican support, and the timing could not be more
fitting. The FBI released preliminary data showing violent crime fell 9.3% in
2025, while murder dropped an estimated 18.1%—the largest single-year decline
since 1937. Sexual assault, robbery, and property crime all saw sharp declines
as well. The message is clear: when we support law enforcement rather than
undermine them, our communities become safer.

I was also proud to join my colleagues this week in passing the 21st Century
ROAD to Housing Act. This legislation directly addresses the housing
affordability crisis that has priced too many families out of the dream of
homeownership. The bill expands the housing supply, streamlines regulations,
and strengthens support for rural, veteran, and working-class families. For too
long, the cost of housing has been climbing while Washington has stood by. I'm
grateful to President Trump for making this a priority, and I look forward to
seeing this legislation signed into law.

As always, thank you for your continued support and the privilege of serving
you. If my office can ever be of assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

With gratitude,
