Hi
I’ve been campaigning with Dignity in Dying for three years. In that time
there’s been progress and roadblocks, but my commitment to the campaign stands
firm - because even if the law does not change in time for me, I believe this
choice should be available for future generations.
When I was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2014 I immediately knew what
I didn’t want to experience at the end of my life. I want the option of an
assisted death. Even as my condition worsens - I can no longer move my arms or
legs and I need a ventilator to breathe - I am still fighting for change .
Dignity in Dying are about to make a big push in the campaign, and they need
help. Can you contribute?

My MP was once a staunch opponent of assisted dying. I’ve been writing to him
and meeting with him since 2018 - even my court case that shaped this debate for
over a year didn’t convince him. But from when I first met him in person, I
hoped I could change his mind.
Just a few weeks ago I was astonished on a phone call with him when he told me
he’d changed his mind:
I know many of you will have MPs who oppose change, but I hope my news will
encourage you to keep hoping and keep working on them!
Up and down the country, campaigners like me and you can drive this campaign
forward - one by one minds will change until we have enough support in
Parliament to change the law. Dignity in Dying gave me so much support, now I
want them to be able to provide the same to everyone working hard to change
their MPs’ mind.
