Email from Rep. Hinson Dear Friend, I want to update you on a growing threat to our kids, and it’s coming straight from Communist China. Right now, China is flooding our country with illegal, unregulated vape products designed to hook young people. As a mom to teenage boys, this is something I take personally. Parents deserve to know what’s inside these products and who’s behind them. Many of these illicit vapes contain dangerous chemicals like formaldehyde and lead, and some disposable e-cigarettes can deliver nicotine levels equivalent to nearly 20 packs of cigarettes in a single day of use. Unsurprisingly, these same products are banned for sale in China. They won’t allow the sale of these vapes for their own people, but they’re shipping them in droves to the U.S. and targeting our kids. That’s unacceptable and absolutely terrifying, and this mama bear had to do something about it. I connected with Senator Tom Cotton, and we introduced a bill that cracks down on these illegal and dangerous products. Under our bill, those who exploit our market and put American families at risk will be held accountable. I will always work to protect our kids! Sincerely, In Memory of our Servicemembers As Memorial Day approaches, we pause to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in defense of our country and the freedoms we enjoy every day - especially the Iowans who recently laid down their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice, and the sacrifices made by their families can never truly be repaid. We have a responsibility to not only honor those we lost, but to ensure the men and women who wore the uniform are respected, supported, and cared for long after their service ends. My family and I are grateful for all who have served our nation, and this Memorial Day, we remember the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Groundbreakings, Paying Tribute to Veterans, & More in IA-02! My team was proud to attend the groundbreaking for Reach 4, Phase 1 of the Cedar Rapids Flood Risk Management Project. Our communities have fought hard to recover and rebuild after devasting floods, and investments like this are essential to protecting lives, homes, businesses, and critical infrastructure. Thank you to the local leaders and partners involved in working together to help safeguard the Cedar Rapids community! My team also visited Cedar Ridge Christian School in Cedar Falls for the school’s “Faith and Freedom” concert honoring veterans and public servants. Following the performance, the school put on a student art show and recognized Gabriella Evans, our district’s winner of this year’s Congressional Art Competition! It was very special to celebrate Gabriella’s achievement alongside her family, teachers, and school leaders. With graduation season underway, my team was honored to attend commencement at the University of Northern Iowa and celebrate the Class of 2026. Congratulations to all the graduates, along with the families and professors who helped them get to this point! Finally, my team attended an awards ceremony for students at Wahlert Catholic High School. We presented a congressional certificate to Jackson Lampe for earning an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy. Congratulations to Jackson and all our service academy appointees on this incredible accomplishment!   Facebook Instagram X Truth Stay Connected Rep.
