Dear Friends,
Pride season is almost here, and I’m excited to invite you to my 3rd Annual Pride Kick-Off Fundraiser on Friday, June 5th from 6:00–8:00 PM for an evening of celebration, community, and purpose.
As the first openly LGBTQ+ member of Philadelphia City Council, this event holds deep meaning for me each year. Pride is more than a celebration, it’s a reflection of our resilience, our progress, and our commitment to protecting one another at a time when LGBTQ+ communities across the country continue to face growing attacks and uncertainty.
Over the past year, I’ve been proud to champion initiatives centered on equity, visibility, and opportunity for our community, including:
•Hosting City Council’s first-ever LGBTQ+ Health Fair during National LGBTQ+ Health Awareness Week
•Holding a community resource fair aimed at supporting the LGBTQ+ community’s unique needs
•Convening LGBTQ+ small business leaders to better understand and support their needs
•Launching an open call for local LGBTQ+ artists to be featured in a Pride exhibit at Historic City Hall as part of America’s 250th anniversary celebration
•Preparing to hold the city’s first LGBTQ+ health hearing focused on disparities in healthcare access and coverage, especially in light of ongoing federal cuts
This year’s Pride Kick-Off carries even greater significance for me personally because it will be my last Pride celebration before beginning my re-election campaign.
Over the last several years, we’ve built something powerful together: advancing bold legislation, standing up for vulnerable communities, and ensuring LGBTQ+ Philadelphians have representation at the highest levels of city government. As we look toward the next chapter, this moment is both a celebration of what we’ve accomplished and a reminder that the work is far from finished.
As I prepare for re-election, your support means more than ever. This fundraiser is an opportunity to help build the foundation for the work ahead and ensure our communities continue to have a strong, unapologetic voice in City Hall.
