Hi john,
You’ve had a long week — why not take it easy today? Grab a blanket, a cup of coffee, and settle in because we’re back again for another AAF Friday of what the hell is going on in Big Abortion! When our rights can literally change day to day, we’re here to make sure you stay enraged, engaged, and in the know.
Let’s do this!
Who Needs Comprehensive Healthcare When You’ve Got Thoughts And Prayers?
Remember how all of the enemies of science claimed that miscarriage management won’t be affected by abortion bans? Data recently published in JAMA said “SIKE” – you get FEWER options for miscarriage treatment in states with abortion bans! [[link removed]] Forever reminder: the two-pill regimen recommended for abortion care is the same regimen for miscarriage management — because it is the most effective method with the fewest side effects. Yet, because of abortion bans, pharmacies aren't carrying mifepristone, doctors are afraid of prescribing it, and as a result, misoprostol-only miscarriage management saw a 14% increase. And while miso-only miscarriage care is still very safe, it involves a lot more cramping and discomfort than the recommended two-pill regimen.
Another fun message these bans are sending is that politicians don’t actually give a fuck about the health or pain they are forcing people to endure when they need miscarriage management or abortion care. They’ll just slap a Bible in your hands and tell you to pray for forgiveness, while they keep removing autonomy piece-by-piece… because they genuinely think we deserve it.
No Snark, Just Truth: BLACK WOMEN DESERVE BETTER!
In a racist tale as old as time, Black women continue to bear the brunt of the consequences of anti-abortion legislation and uncertainty as mifepristone’s access hangs in the balance. [[link removed]] Nearly 65% of abortions are medication abortions, and since the fall of Roe, we’re certain that number has only skyrocketed.
A screenshot of an article from The American Prospect. The article is titled: The Mifepristone Wars–and What They Mean for Black Women. Text below the headline reads: Still concentrated in Southern states that ban abortion, Black women disproportionately rely on telehealth, which the Supreme Court has allowed–provisionally–to continue. The article was published on May 19, 2026, and was written by Naomi Bethune. [[link removed]]
Some of the most extreme abortion bans exist in the South, so of fucking course Black pregnant folks are going to be disproportionately affected by the dangerous games played by anti-abortion legislators! When they take away abortion access, do you think they’re gonna do anything about the worsening Black maternal mortality rates or just general overall health outcomes instead? YEAH, NEITHER DO WE.

Now for Some Ways You Can Fight Back!
Yes, okay, it’s really bleak right now — so take that energy, get out in your community, and make a difference!
A graphic promoting the Mife Stories project. Against a black background, all-capitalized text in teal and white reads: Your medication abortion story matters, helps, and protects access. Across the bottom of the graphic is a teal strip with white text giving the website where you can submit a story: mifestories.com. There are also the four logos of the organizations working on this project: Abortion Access Front, Shout Your Abortion, We Testify, and Ultraviolet. [[link removed]]
If you’ve had a medication abortion, congrats! You are exactly who we need.
Anti-abortion ghouls are out here lying through their busted teeth to ban mifepristone, trying to eliminate access by mail, and even roll back approval entirely of a medication that has been used safely worldwide for DECADES. So no, we’re not letting that slide.
Your story is the reality check to the propaganda driving this hard turn into the 1800s! Drop your story at Mifestories.com [[link removed]] , and help drag the truth into the light: mifepristone is safe, effective, and basic healthcare. And we all deserve access.
