The Present is Female.
We are going to get through the coronavirus outbreak together. If you are experiencing symptoms or are looking for more information, you can visit the website of the CDC or the Illinois Department of Health. We are closely monitoring the situation and its effects on the people of Illinois and our nation as we work together to keep our families and communities safe.
John,
100 years ago today, thanks to the blood, sweat, and tears of women across the country, the 19th Amendment was ratified. The path to this accomplishment was marked by beatings and hunger strikes — and incarceration. While we celebrate this tremendous milestone, we can't forget that women of color were only able to secure the right to vote through the decades of organizing and coalition building that led to the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
We are celebrating this anniversary during a week when Kamala Harris, the daughter of immigrants, was named our Vice Presidential candidate. While an incredible victory in its own right, we must not forget that we must keep organizing, keep pushing, and keep fighting until we finally secure pay equity and equal justice for women of color.
I know that one day a young Latina from Little Village may lead our country. But in order to secure this version of the future, we have to support young women leaders and lift them up, especially in communities of color. Join our Protest to Power movement so that we can write this version of history. [secure.actblue.com/donate/chuy-aug-em?refcode=0818_link1&amount=3]
The work ahead of us seems daunting. But we are standing on the shoulders of the fearless women who paved the way for true equality and justice for all. Together, we will keep marching, keep organizing, and keep going until the work is done.
Make a contribution to help Team Chuy organize across Chicagoland and continue to build our voting power until it is impossible to ignore >>>

I am proud to stand with my husband, and with all of you, as we work to defeat the evil we currently face, and build the future we deserve.
See you there,
Evelyn García
