Right after the Supreme Court weakened key protections in the Voting Rights Act, Republicans moved quickly to redraw districts here in Texas.
They changed the lines again. They shifted communities around on a map. And once again, South Texas families are being forced to fight to make sure their voices are heard.
Recently, I visited Pharr — a city that will now partially fall within my district under the new map. And I told local leaders something I believe with my whole heart:
“I may represent 35 percent of Pharr, but I will support the city’s efforts 100 percent.”

Representation is about more than lines on a map.
It’s about whether families feel heard, communities have someone fighting for their jobs, andSouth Texans have a voice in the decisions shaping their future.
That’s what’s at stake right now.
The weakening of the Voting Rights Act combined with aggressive redistricting efforts should concern every Texan — regardless of party. Because when politicians get to choose their voters instead of voters choosing their leaders, trust in our democracy begins to break down.
I’ll keep fighting to make sure South Texas communities are never ignored, sidelined, or carved up for political gain. But I need your help. Will you chip in today to help us continue standing up for the people and communities of South Texas? [[link removed]?]
