Email from Arlington Community Foundation Help us honor Judge Newman’s legacy while recognizing the Arlington leaders shaping what comes next.   This year’s Spirit Awards Luncheon will carry special meaning. On November 12th, the Arlington community will come together for the 2026 Spirit Awards Luncheon: an event shaped by remembrance, gratitude, and a continued belief in what we can build together. This year, ACF will posthumously honor the late Honorable William T. Newman, Jr. with the 33rd annual Spirit of Community Award. As the founder of Arlington Community Foundation (ACF) and the namesake of the award, Judge Newman shaped the very spirit this celebration was created to recognize. Though he never received the award during his lifetime, his service, leadership, and belief in Arlington’s shared responsibility to one another continue to guide ACF’s work today. And because this year’s celebration is so deeply connected to Judge Newman’s legacy, the two additional awards introduced last year take on even greater meaning. We invite you to help us identify the Arlington leaders whose work deserves to be recognized at this year’s celebration by sharing and submitting nominations for these two awards by June 25th: 2026 Spirit of Leadership Award This award recognizes an Arlington nonprofit leader whose bold vision, deep empathy, and lasting impact have strengthened both their organization and the broader community. We are looking for leaders who achieve results by listening, adapting, building partnerships, mentoring others, and lifting up the people around them. Share and submit a nomination here. 2026 Spirit on the Rise Award This award honors an emerging Arlington leader whose creativity, courage, and commitment have already led to meaningful community change. We are looking for someone who has sparked something new in Arlington, whether a program, movement, policy shift, or another meaningful change that would not exist without them. Share and submit a nomination here. Together, these three awards honor the full arc of community leadership: the legacy that grounds us, the leadership moving us forward today, and the rising voices shaping Arlington’s future. We look forward to gathering with you on November 12th for a powerful time of reflection, recognition, and community. Tickets will be available this summer.
