Hi friend, it's Deb Haaland. You know that I'm running for Governor of New Mexico to deliver progress for working families. But did you also know that I love to cook?
One of my favorite New Mexican staples to make is green chile salsa. The taste of fresh tomatoes and local green chile always brings me back home — to my family, our traditions, and the values that shaped me.
I love this recipe so much, in fact, it inspired me to start my very own salsa company to support my family. From finding capital to get started, to overseeing the work in the commercial kitchen, to delivering jars of salsa to mom and pop shops in Los Lunas, Belen, Bernalillo, and more — I was a part of every step, knowing I was supporting my child, contributing to our local economy, and bringing Pueblo culture into grocery stores across the state.

Food brings communities and people together, friend. When we share a home-cooked meal or baked goods, we share our traditions, our stories, and the care and time it takes to nourish our families. During this campaign, I've traveled across the state, meeting New Mexican families from all walks of life, breaking bread and sharing my vision for New Mexico.
I've shared my own struggles and listened to theirs. Together, we’ve made exciting plans for the future of New Mexico. I know New Mexicans want a governor who will fight for affordable healthcare, expand child care, make our communities safer, strengthen our schools, and protect our environment.

That’s the kind of governor I will be.

I am ready on day one to get to work and deliver progress for our communities, including making it easier for local neighborhood markets to open and for grocery stores to carry home-grown food, especially to eliminate food deserts across New Mexico.

Please, if you believe in my vision for a brighter New Mexico, chip in $5 or whatever you can spare now to help me become the next governor. When you click this link and donate, I'll share my own green chile salsa recipe with you! >>
