Let fellow Christians know we stand with them

Dear John,

In July, California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) restricted Christian worship by issuing a statement that’s more in line with Communist China and the Islamic Republic of Iran than it is with our constitutional republic.

Gov. Newsom banned Christians from corporate worship by mandating that churches “must therefore discontinue singing and chanting activities and limit indoor attendance to 25% of building capacity or a maximum of 100 attendees.”

Contrary to what Gov. Newsom believes, government never has had, nor will it ever have, any legitimate authority to dictate ecclesiastical matters to church leaders

Stand up and be counted. Sign the petition and declare that you stand with churches and pastors across America who choose to worship God according to their beliefs and refuse to obey government demands that they restrict or cease worship and Bible teaching.

Each church should seek God through the Scriptures and determine how it should conduct worship services during any disaster. This is part of the responsibility of religious leaders for their flocks.

Some churches may be led to maintain worship services as usual while the structure of worship of other churches may differ. Maintaining the unity among churches who have a diverse approach to worship during the coronavirus pandemic is key (Ephesians 4:3). There should be a mutual respect among the body of Christ for those churches who respond differently.

However, these are decisions that must be made by church leaders –– not secular governments.

Regardless of how your church may be led to worship, I invite you to sign the petition and let our fellow Christians know that we stand with them as they face governmental penalties for worshiping our Lord and Savior.
