Friend, I made a very difficult decision…

Just a few weeks ago, the conservative majority on the Virginia Supreme Court overturned the will of voters and discarded Virginia’s voter-approved Congressional maps. This decision changed the course of the midterm elections. And as a result, I re-launched my race to win Virginia’s 7th district — one of the most competitive seats in the race to the House majority.

My team and I sat down urgently to figure out how to respond. In a matter of hours, our team had to rework our entire campaign strategy. New organizing plans, new community outreach strategy, and new fundraising goals. All because our race got exponentially more competitive.

With Trump and Republicans already targeting me, we needed to ramp up — quickly.

So we acted fast and expanded our digital advertising efforts to make sure voters knew the stakes of our race and how the path to the House majority runs through our district.

I’ll be honest, it was a risky decision because the money we invested wasn’t in the budget. But I gave my team the green light anyway because we Democrats cannot afford to lose this seat with the House majority hanging in the balance — and because I’m betting on this grassroots team to help us close the gap.

This team has never let me down before. So, on the heels of this difficult budget decision, I’m once again asking:
