"If we win Minnesota, it's over," said Donald Trump during his visit in Mankato yesterday.

Trump has had his sights on our state for a while now, opening several campaign offices and dumping millions into advertising here. He's vowed to flip our state red because we've been viewed as a potential GOP pickup opportunity — and he thinks that the key to winning Minnesota is winning MN-08 and re-electing Pete Stauber.

His plan is to target rural communities and farm country right here in the Iron Range in hopes of widening the margin in greater Minnesota to offset the Democratic advantage around the Twin Cities.

Trump's daughter, Ivanka, already came last month to boost Pete Stauber's campaign. Then earlier this month, Trump himself tweeted his support of Stauber. At his speech yesterday, he bashed several Minnesota DFL candidates — and it's only a matter of time before he comes after Quinn.

We cannot let that happen. We need to be prepared for any attacks that Trump throws our way and at other Democratic Minnesotans. He believes that red-leaning, rural districts like ours are up for grabs and an easy GOP mark, and we need to prove him wrong.
