John --

Today marks the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment. Today, we celebrate and honor the suffragists and abolitionists who fought, marched, and were starved to win the right to vote.

As we remember our foremothers who risked their lives to have a voice in their government, it is our duty to recognize that a hundred years ago, the right to vote was not available to ALL women. Black women, Native women, Latinas, and Asian American Pacific Islander women fought for years for suffrage - and now the racist misogynist in the White House is putting all our voting rights at risk. We must fight back.

As Women’s Caucus Chair and the daughter and granddaughter of strong moms, I see my role through the lens of motherhood: having children or mentoring young people is an implicit promise to make the world safer, fairer, and freer for them. And though my own daughter Bella is blessed to grow up in a country where her grandmother Nancy Pelosi is the Speaker of the House leading the most diverse Congress in history, there are still too many systemic barriers for women and girls. We know that far too many people -- especially BIPOC women and queer women -- cannot easily access the ballot, run for office, and hold positions of power.

So today, I’m asking you to continue the fight. We are at a historic moment in our country, where we have the opportunity to elect the first Black, Indian American, and woman as the next Vice President of America. [[link removed]]
FUND THE FIGHT [[link removed]] For two decades, Senator Kamala Harris has served Californians as a progressive fighter for the prime, especially women and girls. We’ve seen Kamala seek justice for vulnerable victims, take on big banks for consumers, pick apart Trump’s nominees in Senate hearings, and advance our values in communities across America. And now, Joe Biden has nominated our very own Oakland-born California Democrat to be his running mate. Imagine the next state of the union with President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and Speaker Nancy Pelosi at the podium. Imagine the progressive policies they can enact to improve our lives if we win the White House and Senate and hold the House, protecting the seats we won in 2018 and expanding our majority. They can win - if we make it happen.

In honor of its 100th birthday, will you donate to make sure we build upon the legacy of the 19th Amendment and elect Kamala Harris as our next Vice President? [[link removed]]

Today we declare that none of us are free until all of us are free. Today, we make a commitment to voter justice, to freedom, to progress -- for ALL women - not just white women. Today we promise to elevate and elect more women, especially BIPOC women who’ve been deliberately left out.

Let’s make the next 100 years of women’s suffrage different than the first. [[link removed]] Together, we can build a more fair and just America with diversity, equity, and inclusion for Bella’s generation and for their children.

Thank you for fighting with us,
Christine
