Dear John,
My name is Nathaniel Babitts, and I’m Rock The Vote’s Pennsylvania State Coordinator. It’s a busy time of year for me, between balancing my time organizing with Rock the Vote, schoolwork, SAT prep, and college admissions, along with the added anxiety of COVID-19. As I enter my final year of high school, I have spent a lot of time reflecting upon the last three years.
One moment in particular sticks out in my memory from my freshman year. On the morning of March 14th, I, alongside many of my classmates, walked out of school in solidarity with the victims of the Parkland shooting. Standing in the dew sprinkled school courtyard, I remember listening to the passionate calls to action by then seniors leading the charge. Linked together as a united voice, an ordinary day in March was transformed into a demonstration of the collective power of young people.
I chose to join Rock The Vote to make sure elected officials heard our generation’s voices. Alongside ambassadors from across the country, we have organized to translate energy into action. These efforts to uplift and empower our nation’s youth are funded by donors like you. No matter how small, your donation powers the work necessary to ensure my generation’s right to vote - our democracy’s most powerful tool.
I, alongside millions of other high school Seniors, will get our first chance to cast a ballot this November. With 2020 poised to be one of the most impactful elections in modern history, it is imperative that we engage young people and make certain they are properly equipped to confidently vote on the issues that will affect their futures.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment to us,
Nathaniel Babitts
