John -- Today marks the 100-year anniversary of the ratification of the Women’s Voting Rights Act.
On August 18, 1920, after decades of endless fighting, a final vote in Nashville wrote into law this important amendment in the U.S. Constitution: “The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.”
The fight is far from over. Can you contribute $20.20 for a 2020 that will fight for women’s rights? [[link removed]]

Today, women still face unequal pay for the same job in almost every sector. Women are underrepresented in almost every industry and branch of government. There are 127 women in Congress today, or 23.7% of the entire House and the Senate. We still have a long way to go.
Brand New Congress is working to change this. We are not just electing any women. People of privilege and wealth won’t change the status quo. BNC is uplifting the voices of regular, working women. People like Cori Bush, Rashida Tlaib, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Paula Jean Swearengin. These are the women who know what the real issues are, and these are the women who know how to solve them.
For the last 100 years and longer, women activists have fought tooth and nail for basic rights, starting with the first wave of feminists. Our candidates face many challenges as they fight for our rights in Congress. It’s not an easy road. Hard-working women have lived the struggles of racism, sexism, poverty, and many more. They know what it’s like to live paycheck-to-paycheck, to have a government that ignores their needs. We need more activists in Congress; we especially need more women activists.
The Violence Against Women’s act is still not funded. After decades, the Equal Rights Amendment is still not fully ratified because of hold-out states. The unique inequalities faced by women of color when it comes to education, housing, healthcare, and employment continue to go unaddressed. LGBTQ+ women are still oppressed and marginalized.
As we continue the fight for women’s rights, we also address the intersectionality of every issue that impacts the different identities of womanhood.
While there is still so much work ahead, we have a vision for future women for the next 100 years and beyond.
