Today, Bob Ferguson is taking Donald Trump to court to defend our democracy and protect the Postal Service.
For partisan reasons, President Trump is unlawfully attacking a critical institution. Washingtonians rely on the Postal Service for their prescriptions, their Social Security payments -- and their ballots.
Three of Washington state's five processing centers have already stopped processing mail, resulting in mail delays for tens of thousands of Washington seniors and veterans who receive their prescriptions by mail. They worry they will not receive their refills before their prescriptions run out. That's outrageous and completely unacceptable.
Like so many of his most destructive policies, President Trump's assault on mail-in ballots violates the law. The Trump Administration's unilateral cuts deny Washington and other states of the right to comment on changes that cause a nationwide impact on service. That's wrong -- and illegal.
Today Attorney General Bob Ferguson filed a lawsuit in federal court in Eastern Washington to protect the Postal Service and mail-in voting. He is leading a nationwide coalition of states, including the battleground states of Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan, to protect the right to vote safely from President Trump's attacks.
Bob is protecting democracy in some of the most heated battleground states in the country -- and the case will be argued in Washington state.
This case is developing fast. We know one thing for sure -- as the leader of this effort to protect the USPS and mail-in voting, Bob needs his supporters standing behind him.
