OUR FINAL SPRING MEETING MAY 27, 2016 MARK YOUR CALENDAR GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATES TOAST TO THE 250th WESTERN STAR TY ENGLAND Mark your calendar!!!!! May 27, 2026 DONALD TRUMP HIS MAJESTY KING CHARLES III AMERICAN ROOTS His Majesty King Charles III paid a visit to the White House a couple of weeks ago. In his comments, President Trump waxed eloquent with amazing clarity the British roots of American greatness when he said: From English towns and Scottish hills, from Welch mountains and Irish villages, a people unique in history sailed across the mighty Atlantic to settle and civilize this continent in the name of God, king and country. The President continued: In the eyes of America's founders, our war of independence was fought not to reject this heritage, but to reclaim it and perfect it. As the founding father, George Mason, wrote, “We claim nothing but the liberty and privileges of Englishmen in the same degree as we had still continued among our brethren.” When Russell Kirk wrote his opus, The Roots of American Order, he opened by describing the extent to which those roots are ancient, extending from Jerusalem and traveling to America through Athens, Rome, and, finally, London. Kirk wrote: Through Moses, long dead, meaning came into human existence. Our modern moral order runs back to the burning bush on Mt. Horeb. With Kirk’s emphasis on the concept of order is the realization that in a healthy society, order must describe both the soul of the individual and the soul of the nation. No people, society, or nation has a unified creed or ideology without a foundation in religion. From Patrick’s Ireland (and Scottland and England, etc) in the 5th century to the shores of New England, Christianity has been the core of the soul of civilized man. The Christian foundations of public order was emphasized by 20th century’s Christopher Dawson, Eric Voegelin, and Arnold Toynbee. Twentieth century philosopher, theologian, and prolific author, Gordon Haddon Clark began his 1952 text titled A Christian View of Men and Things by writing: A stable civilization rests on a substantial unanimity of thought. But when ordinary differences of opinion multiply, widen, and deepen, when educational systems have contradictory aims, when class consciousness divides the people, and when nations support irreconcilable ideals, the results are war, revolution, brutality, and chaos. He went on to note that for more than a century Bishop Butler’s famous Analogy of Religion was a standard textbook in the American University as was James Orr’s The Christian View of God and the World. The severing of America’s Christian roots in the university will, if not repaired, lead us to the chaos and confusion of the Tower of Babel. Academia has departed from the nation’s roots which receive their nourishment from the realm of the transcendent (Christianity). Truth’s foundation in the presuppositional epistemology inherited from Great Briton & the West has been vacated in the university. To disdain the past is to render ourselves unable to stand upon the shoulders of history’s giants. Trump emphasized that the core of America’s founding was a product of British culture. He said: For nearly two centuries before the Revolution, this land was settled and forged by men and women who bore in their souls the blood and noble spirit of the British. Here, on a wild and untamed continent, they set loose the ancient English love of liberty and Great Britain’s distinctive sense of glory, destiny, and pride… The American Patriots who pledged their lives to independence in 1776 were the heirs to this majestic inheritance. Their veins ran with Anglo-Saxon courage. Their hearts beat with an English faith in standing firm for what is right, good, and true. As Oklahoma looks for a Governor, it is my hope we will find one who will service those ancient roots of civilized order. A Governor who will surround himself with cultural warriors prepared to stand against those now ubiquitous winds of anarchy against order. A Governor whose first priority in education is the restoration of the university’s regent boards, presidents, and professors. A Governor whose heart beats for the restoration of Western Civilization and its and the recovery of the soul of America. ____________ Make plans to attend our Spring finale which features front-running gubernatorial Republican candidates talking about the universities in Oklahoma. Wednesday, May 27 at noon in the Oklahoma History Center. Ask your candidate his plan to remediate the university! DR EVERETT PIPER Sunday, May 17, 2026 BARACK OBAMA AND THE ART OF PROJECTION In a recent interview with Stephen Colbert, Barack Obama said: I’m worried about the Republican Party… I’d love a loyal opposition. I’d love a Republican Party that is conservative in some ways, that didn’t agree with me on a whole bunch of stuff, but believed in [the] rule of law, judicial independence, and empirical evidence and science... There has been a Republican Party like that in the past, and I want to see that return… And, thus, Mr. Obama once again proved to be the master of what Sigmund Freud called “psychological projection.” Projection is the art of attributing your own negative qualities, thoughts, and actions to others. In layman’s terms, it’s the skill of the pot calling the kettle black; the tactic of accusing someone else of what you yourself are guilty of doing; the idea of pointing one finger outward while ignoring the fact that, at the same time, you have four fingers pointing back at yourself. Projection is akin to looking out the window when you should be looking in the mirror. It is a manipulative tactic of blaming other people for your own sins. At its core, projection is the quintessential poster child of the self-serving lie. Let’s just take the former President’s above statement and dissect it point by point. Mr. Obama suggests it is Republicans who presently stand against the rule of law and that he and the Democrats represent the opposite. IS THIS TRUE? Any honest reading of the news proves it is not. Who can deny that it is the Democrats who have encouraged massive illegal immigration with all its compounding effects of welfare fraud, gang violence, and general anarchy? Who can pretend it’s not the Democrats who have flooded the streets of Seattle, Portland, and Los Angeles with illicit drugs, vagrancy, and homeless encampments? Who can deny it’s the Democrats who have fomented civil unrest and violence in our nation’s cities from coast to coast? Does our former president honestly think we don’t see the obvious; that it is he and the Democrats who have tacitly encouraged the burning and looting of business in Kenosha Wisconsin, St. Louis Missouri and Washington D.C, and that it is his party who has campaigned on defunding the police and to stop paying for law enforcement in the very cities that his “useful idiots” are literally burning to the ground? And yet Mr. Obama sits smugly commiserating with Stephen Colbert about the Republicans who are at fault for the anarchy that Democrats themselves inflame. This is the poster child of accusing your opponent of the very sins of which you are most proud. This is classical projection. This is gaslighting 101. Next, we have Mr. Obama’s claim that he wants an opposition party that believes in judicial independence. Really? If an independent judiciary is what you want, then why is your party now openly calling for upending the Supreme Court of the United States from its current configuration and replacing it with a packed court that will do your political bidding? If judicial independence is your ideal, then why are you trying to throw the judicial branch of American government into constitutional chaos simply because you don’t like the rulings of the somewhat “conservative” opposition that you say you want and respect? Does Mr. Obama think we do not see that he is guilty of advocating for the very judicial impropriety that he at the same time pretends to condemn. Some might call this “throwing stones while you’re sitting in a glass house.” Some might call this a big lie. Some might call it textbook projection. And then we have Mr. Obama’s pedantic preaching that he and his party are the ones who believe in science while Republicans don’t. Is there any truth to this? Well, last I knew, it’s the Democrats who keep telling us that they don’t even know what a woman is, and it’s the Democrats who keep saying that boys are girls and girls are boys. And unless I missed the memo, it’s the Democrats who keep saying that babies aren’t human beings and that executing them at their most innocent stage in life is somehow a moral good. YET . . . Mr. Obama keeps prattling on about “following the science” when, in fact, he and his party show us time and time again that they don’t even believe in biology, genetics, the basics of physiology, or the ontological dignity of what it means to be human. There was a time when Mr. Obama and many within his political party told us they were Christians and governed accordingly. If he and any of the rest of them still make such claims, maybe they’d do well to go back and read the book that their faith elevates above all others: Maybe start with these words from the apostle Paul: In passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things.” ~Romans 2:1 __________________ NOTE FROM BOB LINN ABOUT "KEEP THE NINE" MOVEMENT For those interested in making a nine-member Supreme Court part of the U.S. Constitution, join the movement here. _____________ Find more Everett Piper here: Everett Piper (dreverettpiper.com, @dreverettpiper), a columnist for The Washington Times, is a former university president and radio host.
