John, It’s no longer a secret. Donald Trump has confirmed to anyone who was still wondering exactly why his administration is sabotaging the United States Postal Service. They’re trying to reduce capacity and block funding of this crucial government service because they think it’ll help them in the election -- he thinks that if people can’t vote by mail, maybe he can hang on to the presidency. That’s right. Trump is undermining our democracy and willing to put American lives at risk to try to corrupt our election. As President Obama said, Trump is “more concerned with suppressing the vote than suppressing a virus.” But let’s put the election aside for a second. People depend on the postal service -- small business owners, seniors and veterans who get medication through the mail, people waiting for paychecks. And in the middle of a pandemic, we all depend a bit more on mail delivery. What the Trump White House is trying to do isn’t just undemocratic -- it’s shameful, evil behavior. And it’s up to us to make sure they don’t get away with it. On this campaign, we’re not going to sit back and let anyone try to sway this election through shenanigans. But that means we need to take our get-out-the-vote operation to an entirely different level. The pandemic already sets us back in terms of our strategy to reach voters, but now we need to work harder to ensure as many people as possible can safely cast ballots. So I have to ask directly: Will you chip in right now to help fund our GOTV plans and help fight back against this administration’s cynical, un-American strategy? Thanks, Marie
