PPI President Will Marshall and Ben Ritz, Director of PPI's Center for Funding America's Future, were joined by Congressman Don Beyer (VA-8), Vice Chair of the Joint Economic Committee, to talk about the fiscal health of the United States and the path out of the economic crisis caused by COVID-19.
"If we can’t help these people a little bit more in the time of a pandemic, then when else would we? There’s absolutely no evidence that anyone is refusing to return to work because they’re getting the $600," said Congressman Beyer.
Ben Ritz, the Director of PPI's Center for Funding America's Future, said, "The benefit just expired completely. Nobody on either side wanted it to just disappear. If we had automatic stabilizers, along the lines of what PPI has introduced and what the Congressman has introduced, we wouldn’t have had this kind of [fiscal] crisis.”
